Attach appropriate finish desired pad to buffer.  Apply product and buff.  The gray pad is a finishing pad.  You can apply Flynn’s X-Cite product for an excellent finish.  The yellow pad is a cut pad.  You can apply European Cut to the yellow pad to acquire a perfect finish (depending on your job skillset).
